
Josh Austin is entering his first year as the head men’s basketball coach at Williams Baptist. Austin,
31, started his coaching career as an assistant at Central Baptist
College (AR) in 2005 before stepping in as an interim head coach half
way through the year. Under Austin, the Mustangs finished the regular season 18-13 and qualified for the NCCAA National Tournament.
CBC broke over 12 school records under Austin, including the most wins in a single season with 22. Austin has coached 2 NCCAA All-Americans, 6 NCCAA All-Region players, & the school’s first ever NCCAA Academic All-American. While under Austin, CBC has been ranked in the top five in team three point percentage, steals, & points per game. Austin guided the Mustangs to two NCCAA National Tournament appearances including the Elite 8 in 2009.
Austin received his bachelor’s degree in Health Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 2005.
He went on to earn his master’s degree in athletic administration from Concordia University in 2011.
As a collegiate athlete Austin played guard for Central Baptist College from 1999-2001. Austin ranks eighth on CBC’s all-time scoring list while scoring 905 points in just two seasons. Austin also broke the single game three point record (9) and owns the most points scored in a single game with 47.
A native of Magnet Cove, AR, Austin was a three sport standout in
football, basketball, and track. Austin was born on August 20, 1980. His
family includes his wife Rachel and daughter Langley.
Michael Holder will enter his first year as an assistant coach at Williams Baptist.
Among his many responsibilities, Holder, 24, has been instrumental in the development of the post players. He also assists with day-to-day planning, and recruiting.
A Batesville, AR, native, Holder was a four year letter winner at Central Baptist College beginning in 2007 under Austin. He played in 115 career games and was the first player to record over 1,000 points (1,023) and 1,000 rebounds (1,013) in a career. Michael has the most career blocks at CBC with 191 and holds the record for the most blocks in a single season (88).
“Coach Holder is a phenomenal individual and we are blessed to have him on staff. He is very passionate about young people and our program,” stated head coach Josh Austin. “Michael was very successful on the court and in the classroom. His Christ-like character sets him a part. That is why we are excited to have him be a part of this staff.
Holder, completed his bachelor's degree in Science with an emphasis on General Education in 2011. Michael is currently involved in with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
